They present their works along a parcours: indoors, as window or roof projections, or outdoors on the castle grounds and estate. The um | raum – parcours creates a new perception of Britz Castle and estate.
From a European perspective, supposedly secure coordinates are faltering. During the coronavirus pandemic, extreme restrictions on personal and spatial freedom were experienced. In times of housing shortages and increasing exclusion and isolation, the um | raum project experiments extensively with individual and communal spatial experiences. At the interface between urban and peripheral urban space, positions on architecture, movement and inner and outer spaces are presented.
As a membrane of architecture, light and sound, the estate becomes a living organism in which memory, materiality and the present intertwine. The place is played with and becomes permeable: doors, windows, passageways and courtyards act as porous zones in which lights and sounds overlap and shift.
The audience moves through a field of light and sound events whose boundaries are not clearly defined. The installations break with viewing habits and invite the audience to adopt unusual perspectives.
